I authored my first article for Ontario Arborist in the February/March 2021 issue, titled "Gear Up Big For The Season by Adding Arborist Crane Operator Subcontractors to Your Network." For this piece, I interviewed experts from Diamond Crane Corp and Brooklin Tree & Crane, gaining insights into their operations. I also captured on-site photographs during a job in Ajax, Ontario, where the teams collaborated to remove a large Silver Maple, adding a visual element to the story that highlighted the scale and expertise involved in the work.
While developing the content calendar for Ontario Arborist, I identified a gap in health and wellness topics relevant to our readers. To address this, I reached out to sports author and coach Molly Hurford for the June/July 2021 issue. I arranged for Molly to interview three of Ontario’s top industrial athlete climbers, bringing valuable insights into their physical and mental conditioning. To complement the article, I sourced photos of the arborists from the ISAO climbing competition archives and personally shot the nutrition-related photos, ensuring the visual content aligned with the article's focus on health and performance.
For the August/September 2021 issue of Ontario Arborist, the executive director of ISAO, Rebecca Lord, suggested a feature on cavity-dwelling birds of Ontario. We collaborated with Kris Vande Sompel, the Urban-Forestry-Arboriculture Coordinator at Algonquin College, who authored an insightful article on the topic. Kris also contributed stunning photographs from his personal collection, adding a visually captivating element to the feature that enriched our readers' understanding and appreciation of these unique species.
The second article I authored for Ontario Arborist was the first installment in a series titled "Digital Marketing Basics for Tree Care Businesses." This initial piece focused on building a strong presence on the Google Search Network. To make the content more relevant and practical for the ISAO member base, I interviewed and photographed the team at Eco Tree Care in Kingston, ON, providing real-world examples that illustrated the strategies discussed in the article.
